Weekly poem on Trump Presidency

Bridget Lowe

Casa Presidente Which Is Southwest Key Which Is Chacbak LLC Which Are Two Brownsville Texas Real Estate Developers

His name is on their lips, and doughnut dust—

Sunday morning—        They set down their Styrofoam cups

to speak—        Blessed are the employees of God, the CEO

of Southwest Key—       The charter schools

in abandoned strip malls—         The contract workers, seasonal

as swimwear—              The meek, the meekest, without

benefits—         This constellation of LLCs—      May its light

trickle down upon their hair—   At the Halloween Superstore

that rotates in and disappears— Overnight—

Latex masks on makeshift shelves—        Bloody mouths, empty

eyeholes—        Trick or treat!—           Someone

open the door please—             someone screams—

What kind of fear is this? It feels new—   Hush, hush—

His mysteries    are not for us—             to understand—
